At BucksVision, we believe that no one should face sight loss alone. Every day, we support blind and partially sighted people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes - and we couldn't do it without the dedication and compassion of our incredible volunteers.
Losing your sight can be incredibly isolating. Everyday tasks become challenges, and the world can start to feel like a much smaller place. Our volunteers provide more than practical support; they offer friendship, companionship, and a reassuring presence in what can often be a difficult time.
Whether it's guiding someone on a walk, reading their post, supporting a social club, or simply having a chat over a cup of tea, you’re helping to restore confidence and independence - and you’re reminding someone they are not alone.
You don’t need to be an expert to volunteer with us. All you need is empathy, patience, and a willingness to learn. We provide full training and ongoing support, so you feel confident in your role - whether you volunteer once a week, once a month, or on an occasional basis.
There’s a wide range of opportunities to suit your skills and interests. Some roles are out and about in the community; others can be done from home. Whatever time you can give, it really does make a difference.
Volunteering doesn’t just benefit those we support. It’s good for your wellbeing, too. Many of our volunteers say they feel more connected, purposeful, and fulfilled as a result of their work with us. You’ll meet new people, learn new skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing people with sight loss.
More than anything, you’ll leave each interaction knowing you’ve done something meaningful.
If you're looking for a way to give back, meet wonderful people, and make a real difference in your local community, we’d love to hear from you. Volunteering with BucksVision is a powerful way to support people living with sight loss — and every hour you give brings light into someone’s world.
