Job description

BucksVision is a small local charity supporting people with sight loss in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.  We were established in 1911 and in 2014 we became part of RNIB.  We have the structure and culture of a small local charity, but benefit from having the support and strategic insight of our national parent organisation. 

We run clubs and activities for blind and partially sighted people groups across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.  We also provide support within hospital eye clinics in our local area.  We have seven members of staff based in Aylesbury (one of whom is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital) under the management of the Chief Executive and are supported by approximately 300 volunteers countywide.  

In the last year our current Fundraising Manager has done an excellent job of putting in place a foundation from which to build and has generated GBP 60k of income for the charity as well as organising many events to help raise the profile of BucksVision.  However, she will be moving on to pastures new soon and we need to find someone who is able to continue to develop our fundraising and profile-raising work.

You will have good experience of fundraising and, ideally, event management.  You will have experience of contacting community organisations and grant giving bodies to request grants and donations.  

You'll be a strong communicator, able to speak to a wide variety of people to ensure results are delivered and targets met. You will be able to use your initiative to identify opportunities and will be able to maximise success and deliver results.

You will be self-motivated with good commercial skills; whilst fundraising experience is an advantage, we would be keen to hear from you if you are in a sales or event management role and are looking to move into a fundraising role.

We support people with sight loss across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.  We run clubs and activity groups across our local area and have a network of trained volunteers and an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer providing advice and support within local hospital eye clinics.
