We need your help!
BucksVision has a dedicated team of over 400 volunteers who help our members. Some help in our social clubs during the day, some drive for us, some help in the hospital eye clinic and some visit our members.
We CRB check and train all our volunteers. They are a fantastic team and they would like you to join them!
Here is a selection of the roles that our volunteers carry out for us:
Drivers
Volunteer drivers transport members to our social, craft and bowls clubs. They are also needed to drive members to visit our Resource Room in Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. Our drivers use their own vehicles and we reimburse fuel costs at 40p per mile.
Club Helpers
Assist for a couple of hours weekly or fortnightly at our various social clubs for older people. Helping with refreshments and talking to members.
Bowls Club
Assist our visually impaired members to play bowls. No experience of bowls needed as training will be given. It is very easy to pick up and our members will welcome you with open arms.
Home Visitors
To visit members in their own homes for a chat and to help them with tasks such as reading their mail.
Fundraising
We are always looking for new ideas and people to run an event for us such as; a Sponsored Dog Walk or Cycle Ride, Tennis match or coffee morning.
Walking Partners
For volunteers who enjoy walking and can assist a blind or partially sighted member to enjoy the fresh air and countryside at our walking groups run in the Milton Keynes area.
Hospital Information Officers
Volunteers talk to patients in the eye clinics and raise awareness of BucksVision’s services. To give information leaflets to people who are newly diagnosed with sight loss.
Link Officers
To visit new members and spread the good news of the help and support that BucksVision can give them.
Working Age Group Helpers
Volunteers needed to drive and participate in various activities chosen by our working age members. In some cases this will be in the evening.
Committee Members
Our Committees are run by volunteers, and if you are interested in serving as a treasurer, chairman, secretary we would love to hear from you.
