We currently have over 3000 members in Buckinghamshire including Milton Keynes. Membership to BucksVision is free to those who are entitled. Also our services are available free of charge, to all our members and anybody who has a serious sight loss and lives within Buckinghamshire.
If an Ophthalmologist (Eye Consultant) registers you as Sight Impaired/Partially Sighted or Severely Sight Impaired/Blind and you live in the Bucks County Council Area, your details will be referred to BucksVision automatically by the Hospital. If you are registered by an Ophthalmologist and live in Milton Keynes, your details will be sent to Milton Keynes Council.
You can access BucksVision services even if you are not registered:
•If, as a result of your sight loss, you are experiencing difficulties with everyday tasks, you can ask your optician to give you a letter to send to BucksVision.
•If you attend the Hospital Eye Clinic, staff can make a referral to BucksVision on your behalf.
•You or a relative or a friend can contact us to ask us for help.
Once you are referred to BucksVision, a Rehabilitation Officer will contact you to carry out an assessment of the help you need. They will then be able to show you how to cope with your sight loss in lots of practical ways.
