The BucksVision annual county-wide arts and crafts competition is called the de Fraine Competition in memory of Ellen Margaret de Fraine, a former resident of Aylesbury who lost her sight in 1956. Her daughter wished to perpetuate her mother’s memory in a useful and kindly way and donated the de Fraine Shield to BucksVision (previously known as B.A.B.) when this annual competition began in 1964.
It is at the annual de Fraine that all ten BucksVision Divisions meet in friendly rivalry. There are classes to suit most members in which they can enter their exhibits that are judged by outside and impartial judges, each an expert in their field.
Rosettes, Cups and Trophies are awarded to all placed exhibits and the day runs very smoothly with around 200 members and volunteers present each year.
